Course

Young Guitarist Course is a two year music class that gives students an opportunity to learn the basics of music in a fun, organized and supportive environment.  The goal of YGC is to provide students with a comprehensive education on the guitar and allow them to leave the class with a positive an rewarding experience.  While the atmosphere of the classroom is fun and social, the expectation of development is high.  This is achieved through purposeful, disciplined instruction, relevant repertoire and an ever expanding approach to technique.   Successful completion of the final Skills Assessment will allow the student to reach the rank of “Yamaha Junior Guitarist”

Course Content

• Repertoire Pieces & Melody playing

• Rhythm Strum excercises with Chord Chart

• Yamaha Music Curriculum & Textbook

• Chord accompaniment

• Basic 2 part solo playing

• Development of the left and right hands with regards to classical

• playing style with 2 or 3 parts harmony

• Passing chords, basses, scales are also taught to give students an insight to pop
